This is the logo the creative team at the Sunlight Foundation has created for the Public=Online campaign. We've put a lot of thought into this: it's simple, works in black and white and maintains the ability to evolve over time. Plus, it's easily replicable by the average person without need for any special software. Watch this video to see how we came up with it.
The emblem evokes time and motion and the iterative nature of real-time government data sets. The "G" for government in the circle (the mark) is also reminiscent of the power button, representing the online component. The strong serif font (the tag) also lets us stand out from the sea of Gov 2.0 sans-serif. The fonts are both open-source. (download fonts)
